American Theatre Master Series
Each Spring, RLTP selects an American drama of great merit – generally one heretofore unseen in WNY – and produces it as our season’s American Theatre Master selection. A high-profile theatre artist closely associated with that play (usually the author) is then invited to visit the Road Less Traveled Theater during the run of the production. Our American Theatre Master presides over a lengthy afternoon Master Class session with RLTP’s New Play Workshop playwrights, RLTP actors and designers, and area students; enjoys an evening performance of their play; and is the Guest of Honor at RLTP’s Spring Gala.
Past American Theatre Masters include:
2008: Playwright/actor Eric Bogosian, visiting during our production of his play Humpty Dumpty
2009: Actor James Rebhorn, visiting during our production of Arthur Miller’s The Man Who Had All The Luck and speaking of his experience working with Miller during the Broadway revival.
2010: Playwright Edward Albee, visiting during our production of his play The Goat; Or, Who Is Sylvia?
2011: Playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, visiting during our production of his play The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot
2012: Playwright A.R. Gurney, visiting during our production of his play Ancestral Voices.
