While Road Less Traveled Productions continues its ascendence in the local theatre community, these remain challenging times for the company.  Our recipe of producing thought-provoking, edgy plays, served with a slice of humor and/or drama, continues to appeal across generational and cultural lines; and the results are undeniable: 20 world premieres, 39 Artie Awards nominations, a growing subscription base, and a national advisory board, all bringing attention to Western New York – after only seven seasons!

But, what you see on stage is only the final product of the RLTP mission.

Before a world premiere comes a vigorous process that forges creative storytelling, from concept to completion. The New Play Workshop provides writers with feedback through readings, showcases, discussion, and guidance.
It is only at the end of this comprehensive development process that we can “sell” the play. Even then, the ticket sales barely cover the cost of production.

The final product is an original Buffalo play, interpreted through quality acting, direction, and technical support. Every aspect of each of our productions comes from local resources, supplied by local artists; and of course employing those artists has a positive impact on our community.

But long after the lights go down, the scenery is struck, and the cast and crew move on, what remains forever is a new crop of WNY playwrights. RLTP gives these writers a canvas to pursue their passion without having to leave home, and also enables them to see their work exposed to both WNY and the national theatre industry.

It is our goal to make “Buffalo: the Place of Playwrights”.

Please consider making an investment to the PROCESS of creating plays.

Your donation impacts the fabric of our community, both now and in the future.
